Girls Explore!

Dr. Boeing and 4 graduate students from New Mexico State University will take high school girls (grades 9-12) into the Gila Wilderness on a free backpacking / science adventure for a week. We aim to have girls, who are underrepresented in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math; low-income families, minorities) and have not previously had the opportunity to experience the outdoors while pushing their own physical and mental boundaries. Expenses

4 x Wilderness First Aid Course - $ 1,000

Hiking boots for participants - $ 500

Food while in the wilderness - $ 1,000

Mileage (2 vehicles) - $ 800

Dorms and food for last day - $ 1,200

Supplies and gear - $ 500

Total - $ 5,000

Dr. Boeing and the 4 graduate students are donating their time! We are paying about $400 per participant.

Any money that may be raised beyond our goal will go towards endowing the program, so we won't have to fundraise every year!
