The Zapatistas are coming!

We are preparing to receive the compas of the EZLN, the CNI, and the Front for the Defense of Land and Water from Morelos, Puebla, and Tlaxcala. A first group made up of 7 people, Squadron 421 will come by boat and will arrive at the port of Vigo, Galicia, in mid-June. Later, the rest of the delegation will arrive.

They come with the objective of listening to us, hear our stories of struggles, get to know us, and share with us that vision of the world that makes us never give up in our endeavor to defeat capitalism. They also come to share with us their genuine experience in building their Autonomy with justice and dignity.

The group left Mexico in April this year and it’s on its way to the continent 500 years after the supposed conquest of what is today Mexico by Europeans. The year 2021 marks 20 years of the March of the Color of the Earth, which aimed at claiming the group’s place in a collapsing Nation. The Zapatistas set sail on their journey to tell the planet that there is room for everyone in the world that they hold in their collective heart – and that that world will only be possible if we unite in our struggles to build it together.

In the Netherlands, a similar coming together has happened where a beautiful and extensive solidarity network with volunteers from all different backgrounds, social movements, identities, social classes, languages, and roots have united to organize for the journey for life. We plan to receive the compas in the Netherlands for 2 weeks as they continue through their journey in this land called Europe.

This is where we need your collaboration and your support, to obtain sufficient resources for travel, food, political and social events to support all compas in this endeavor. Specifically, our finances will cover:

• Transportation costs
• Travel
• Lodging/ Accomodations
• Food
• Political and Social Events (permits, logistics, etc.)
• Health-related costs/ First Aid
• Contingency
