Hello! I’m Rikki Simons and I’ve put together this new GoFundMe campaign to help my wife Tavisha and I pay our rent during a two month financial rough patch. In exchange, I’d like to offer you some of my art as a thank you.
I'm a voice actor (GIR on Invader ZIM), writer, and artist and Tavisha is also an artist. We spend all of our time working on art commissions for clients, traveling to conventions to teach and display art, and (in my case) doing auditions for voice over. The work is great when art clients are abundant and timely with payments and auditions win me new gigs that pay quickly. But if payment for either finished artwork or voice over completed spans long gaps of time it can leave us with financial dead zones. We are in one of those dead zones right now and it is making it impossible to scrape together our rent for September and October. Our landlord can be mercurial but forgiving, but I don’t want to risk eviction over a temporary problem.
Usually we can weather these gaps by locking down even more work. Sometimes we can also get by with residuals I receive for voice acting, but all of the various streaming and traditional places on cable that show my TV episodes haven’t paid anything out in a year, and the new ZIM movie doesn’t have an official release date yet. It’s strange having a character like GIR and seeing things like a collection of my most famous lines receive over two million views on youtube, but still be the working poor. It’s one of the most absurd forms of feast or famine when your characters are more famous than you are. But that’s just the business sometimes.
In exchange for your contributions to this GoFundMe I’d like to give you these prints of paladins (inspired by my love of D&D) that I’ve created for a new fantasy collection - which includes one pig-riding paladin who may not be the brightest of the bunch.
For a $25 contribution, you may select one print from the collection.
For a $40 contribution, you may select two prints.
For a $60 contribution, you may select three prints.
For a $75 contribution, you may select four prints.
For a $90 contribution, you may select five prints.
For a $100 contribution, you may select all six prints.
