Gioia's Brain Surgery

Donation protected
Gioia (pronounced Joya) is 12 years old and will be having her 2nd brain surgery.  On Friday July 27th of this year, Gioia woke up screaming with excruciating pain in her head. Rushed to the local hospital they found bleeding in her brain and realized this was a life and death situation. Escorted by police, the ambulance wove through the expressways and downtown traffic to Sick Kids Hospital where the surgeon later revealed that Gioia literally had “minutes” left had they not immediately operated.
Presently Gioia is in rehab doing speech therapy and awaiting surgery on October 2nd to remove the cluster of veins that caused the bleeding. Without surgery she is in danger of hemorrhaging again. The Squilliacioti family has relied on their faith, as well as the love and prayerful support from family, friends and their church family. Gioia’s mother has not left her side, and rehabilitation will be long especially after the upcoming surgery.
We have started a GO FUND ME page so the family could have some relief from the financial strain of the extra expenses incurred. They are not requesting help, however many of us are in agreement that we want to see this beautiful family helped. Gioia's family of 4 moved to Canada from Italy over 3 years ago to make new lives for themselves, and although there are challenges in that, this is truly the most challenging period of their lives. We humbly ask for your compassion, and any amount is a blessing to them. On behalf of the Squilliacioti family and friends, we thank you for your love, support and especially prayers!
