Ginsbach's Medical Fund

Hello friends!

You might be aware that our dear friend Brian Ginsbach suffered a terrible fall from his garage roof on June 11th.  He was on his roof checking for hail damage after the big storm that hit North Hudson earlier that day, and, as he was descending the ladder, the ladder feet slipped and Brian crashed to the ground. While he’s very lucky and very thankful that he didn’t injure himself worse, he did suffer some significant and unfortunate injuries:  he broke a vertebrae in his back, broke his left wrist and shattered his right heel.  Although the accident happened in June, doctors weren’t able to perform surgery on his foot until Friday, July 7th.  From that date, his recovery is 3 months with no weight on the foot, and that recovery period is only if there are no complications.  He is also wearing a “turtle shell” plastic brace for his back in hopes that he will not need surgery to repair the break.

With his significant physical limitations, Brian had been on disability from his job. Disability insurance does not pay 100% of salary and it certainly isn’t enough to cover deductibles and out of pocket expenses that medical insurance won’t cover.  Unfortunately,  Brian's company also had a company wide reduction in their workforce and he was laid off from his job. They will now have to pay for Cobra insurance in addition to their medical bills. Brian is also the main breadwinner for the family. As you might know, Amy works part time at the Hudson Library.  Brian’s health issues are in addition to some health issues that Amy had to resolve this past Spring  with surgery , and their insurance company is refusing to cover a good portion of it.

It’s been a roller coaster financially and healthwise for the Ginsbachs and they could use a helping hand to get them through this financially difficult time.  Brian and Amy are both lovely people who give of their time in the community through school groups, boy scouts and girl scouts.  They’re one of those families where if you were to say you needed help or they learned of a friend in need, they would be there asking what they could do to help.  Let’s be there for them and help raise some money to get them over this financial hurdle!
