Gina is a beautiful inspiration to all of us; full of love, patience, and grace. She is an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister and dear friend to so many!! She has two beautiful and loving daughters that give Gina the strength to endure the tough days. Her amazing husband is very supportive, patient, and encouraging!
Three years ago, Gina was diagnosed with
Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She courageously fought her battle against cancer and kicked cancer's butt! Her family was by her side every step of the way. Unfortunately, her lymphoma came back almost 3 years later. It was found after MRI scans showed a mass in her front left lobe early this year. So her treatment begins, again...
Her treatment plan involves 3 - 28 day aggressive chemotherapy sessions, followed by stem cell transplant treatment.
Since Gina had to step away from teaching to focus on her fight against cancer, the family is suffering from loss of her income. They do not know if she will be returning in the fall due to the recovery time of the stem cell treatment plan. Her hospital stays will be considerable for this treatment (up to 12 days first 3 months and last month could be 30 days). All of which will increase their medical bills since everything is not covered.
The family hopes to search other options to get a second opinion. Unfortunately, this would not be covered by insurance. The treatment plans and other drug treatments that are targeted to the treatment of lymphoma have changed in the 2-3 years since she received her first treatment. They want to make sure they are on the right track with the most updated treatment for Gina's fight.
