Because I Loved A Girl

Donation protected

On October 4, 2000 I met a girl, Michelle, and she became "my love, my life" and then eventually, my wife. Our world was turned upside down when I lost her twice... first on July 30, 2009 and then ultimately on July 8, 2013. The time has come to put our story into a book, so from November 1-15 I will be traveling over 7,800 miles on a memorial mission to think, remember, and write about our life together. I will be revisiting places that were sentimental to us: Vail, CO, Walla Walla, WA, Seattle, WA, Whistler, BC, and Maui, HI where we got married and spent a week for our 5th anniversary. Any support you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you, and God bless,

Michael Pogue

An excerpt from the book:

One evening, I decided I needed to do something romantic to prove my potential. I thought about the times we had spent together, and I remembered her reading a section of a book that was one of her favorite love stores. Michelle loved stories about relationships, and especially romance. So I went to the local bookstore and bought "The Notebook", and then skimmed through the book looking for the section that I knew she liked. After a few minutes, I found it, and I then called her up on the phone, and said, “There’s something I want to read to you.” My hands were shaking as I held the book and began to read to her with a slight quiver to my voice. As I read, I could hear her crying on the other end. When I finished, she said, “You remembered that I love that book, and that part especially.” She didn’t know what I was doing, but I was setting the stage for what was about to occur. See, she was flying back home the next day, and she was expecting her brother to pick her up from the airport. However, I had an alternative plan in place. Since Michelle liked to journal, she wrote about me that night after I read to her out of the book, “I wish it were you picking me up from the airport tomorrow.” Little did she know that it was going to be me who would be there to pick her up.
