Help Gill Kick Lymphoma in the Face

Donation protected
Welcome! The family and friends of Gillian Looney are uniting to help raise money while she receives treatment for stage 3, Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Gill's Message:
On January 7th I took my first sick day in over three years. I had been feeling tired and rundown after an especially challenging holiday season in retail. On January 8th I found out I have Lymphoma. I could sit here and write the entire story of my diagnosis for you. Everything you would want to know, every detail of the last three weeks’ events is crystal clear in my mind. But reliving it and sharing the minutiae of medical testing, diagnosing, and treatment is not important to my story and me. What is important to me is maintaining a kick-ass positive outlook, learning through this experience, and coming out stronger on the other side of it. Every single day teaches me a new lesson. Here are some things that I have learned over the past 3 weeks:

• I have stage 3 Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma.
• Cancer is not something that happened to me.  I am a patient, not a victim.
• I have the kindest, strongest family and friends. Their love, support, and compassion for me are truly astounding.
• Having a job that you miss going to every day is an incredible blessing.
• My body is smarter than me, and I need to listen to it.
• Asking for help is okay and accepting help is sometimes necessary.

Many people have been asking, "What can I do to help?"
Well, here it is: you may donate to show your support and to alleviate a difficult part of cancer that no one talks about: the financial stress.  Like many people undergoing treatment for cancer, Gill is facing out-of-pocket medical expenses during a time she is also unable to work.  If you want to take your support a step further, please share this fundraising page with your family and friends and ask if they would help, too.

*If you are unable to give a monetary gift right now, a note showing your love and support to Gill is equally appreciated!

If you made your way to this page, but do not know Gill personally, here is a glimpse into the person she is:

"Sunny disposition is one of my favorite ways to describe her.  Free spirited, complex, fierce, crazy smart, opinionated, contagious laugh, exuberant."  -Kristin, Gill's mother
