Gifts for Zachary Pfaff's Fight against Cancer

Dear Pfaff Friends and Family,
I first met the Pfaff family right around the time Zachary was born. Over the next seven years of babysitting, tagging along on multiple family vacations, and just spending time in community with this amazing family, Zachary and I became pretty good buddies. He is a sweet, caring, fun, loving, strong, positive kid.
Zachary’s positivity, strength, and easy-going personality have been displayed in the past several months as he played and lived life through the initially intermittent, but increasingly consistent pain of what we now know to be a large tumor that surrounds his left hip. Spending time with Zachary after his first MRI, I was struck by his joyful and playful attitude.
Receiving a diagnosis as serious as Ewing’s Sarcoma has been overwhelming for Zachary and his family as they navigate the emotional and physical toll of cancer treatment. This is difficult for the community as a whole as well as we face uncertainty and not knowing how to help the Pfaffs best.
Zachary’s treatment time-line is at least 9mo.- a year of biweekly inpatient chemotherapy treatments, potential surgery, and possibly radiation. There are many costs, medical and otherwise, that will be necessary to take care of Zachary and help him fight this cancer. My hope is that the gifted funds raised here will not only help the Pfaffs financially through this difficult time, but also show our love for this family that is constantly pouring out their own hospitality, generosity, and love on those around them.
