Gibsons Rotary 1500 20 Campaign

Donation protected
The Gibsons Rotary Club rolled out its 1500 x $20 GoFundMe Campaign to raise $30,000 -- the equivalent of 1500 x $20 bills.

The funds will be used to build an Early Childhood Education Center in the village of Taweni, South Africa. The school will be located in the same village where the Rotary club delivered 60 hippo water rollers  last year.

It was decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign -- rather than staging a traditional fundraising event -- so more local residents could get involved with the project.  Supported by a social media campaign, donors will be able to watch the school being built and meet the kids who will attend. That's exciting!

“The idea of breaking the fundraising into $20 bills makes the campaign more attractive," said Rotarian Helen Macham. “1500 $20 bills breaks the project into manageable pieces and small enough so that everyone can participate."

To make it even more attractive, for every $20 donated, our Rotary Club will match it with $20, so donors will double the impact of their donation.

“Rotary clubs are very active with community projects on the Sunshine Coast," added Macham. “This project is particularly exciting because it's part of our global vision to serve and make a difference.”

The school will be part of a network of Early Childhood Development schools operating in the Eastern Cape Province that delivers educational opportunities to impoverished rural communities.

This project is one of the many local and international projects that the Gibsons Rotary club manages for the good of the whole community.  We thank you for helping us do our good works.
