<div>At 12:20 am, Gia was awakened by her father banging on her bedroom window, telling her to leave IMMEDIATELY. The water had already made its way into her house. She grabbed her cat, Sasha, her laptop, and a jacket before heading to the car to evacuate. The water was now past her knees as she approached her vehicle and began her desperate descent to higher ground—even at one point losing traction of the car, floating down the neighborhood, with water up to her doors and windows —Gia, her cat, Sasha, her father, and her grandparents made it to safety.
