On Sunday evening, October 26 Amy suffered a stroke due to a large clot in her right cerebral artery. The result of this stroke means months of rehabilitation and hard work.
If you know Amy, you know she's a brillant, funny, kind and gentle woman. She is the proud mother of two amazing young men, Max is 13 (thanks to his awareness and quick action, Amy was treated very quickly) and Theo is 10. Amy is one of the best Mom's I've ever known, and even when she's ill she makes sure her boys are taken care of. Amy had open heart surgery 4 years ago and the first thing she asked about when she was taken off the ventilator was how the boys were.
Amy recently discovered stand up comedy and has been working very hard to hone her craft. She's made amazing friends in the comedy field and I believe this community has saved her in many ways.
Amy will need alot of help in the coming months. The goal is 100% recovery, this will mean spending time in an inpatient faciltiy for occupational, speech and physical therapy.
We want Amy to have as much comfort possible, to know her children and financial responsibilties are taken care of while she's recovering. Giving her an environment that allows her to focus on her recovery without worry is key.
Amy doesn't have health insurance and the costs will be exorbitant, as a family we will work on this with her, however, she will still have 2 boys to provide for, bills and basic needs. She has a supplemental insurance policy that will help her with some of these expenses but there's no way it will make much of a dent.
I would love to raise enough money to pay her bills, pay for the boys' needs and help her focus on her recovery.
It's a long road, we know that, but we are up for the challenge and we hope you are too.
