At Eyes Wide Open I will offer free trauma-sensitive yoga classes as a healing modality to trafficked survivors and victims of trauma.
I am seeking $1,500 to cover tuition, meals and lodging for the 6 day Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Training at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, Lenox, Mass., October 22-27, 2017.
The Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) model has been shown to significantly reduce symptoms of PTSD.
The trauma-sensitive yoga classes will be an integral part of the healing programs that Eyes Wide Open will provide survivors and victims.
"All emotions, even those that are suppressed and unexpressed, have physical effects. Unexpressed emotions tend to stay in the body like small ticking time bombs - they are illnesses in incubation." Marilyn Van Derbur
The 40 hour training was developed by the Trauma Center at Justice Resources Institute (JRI). JRI is a leader in taking on "...challenges with a level of risk and complexity that other public and private entities have been unwilling or unable to address. For those in the deepest need without advocates or resources, JRI is the resource of choice."
It is a deep honor to be able to serve and participate in the healing journey of trafficked victims.
Thank you, to each of you, in helping me to live my yoga at this deep and heartfelt level.
