Richard Rowe funerary expenses

Donation protected
The The My name is Richard Hoyt, and on October 27th, 2014 my father Richard Rowe tragically perished in a fire at his home. My father was a veteran of the U.S. Army, for whom he honorably served for thirty years of his life, he was 70. The cause of the fire was from an oil lantern he was using for heat and light following a power outage after a storm.

My father had no life insurance and a negligible savings, far below the amount needed to provide him a burial. The cost to have him cremated and interred at a national cemetery is $1500. In addition to his cremation, his modular home must be removed from its current site and disposed of properly, I estimate this cost to be around $1000.

My family and I are already facing staggering financial issues at the moment to settle his estate, and the Department of Veterans Services has said that any reimbursement for funerary services, if even approved at all, could take up to 90-120 days to be issued. Because my fathers remains are in such bad shape, the funeral home can not hold him for more than a week, as embalming and preservation are not possible in his present state.

I am asking upon the kindness of strangers for any help that can be spared to help this process. Even $5 could make the difference. I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I graciously thank you in advance for any help that you might spare. Sweet Home funeral chapel in Sweet Home Oregon is handling the services, if you prefer to make a donation directly to them: [phone redacted] ATTN Mack.

Thank you.

Richard A. Hoyt
