Out of The Cold

Scott Williams is a fighter that really needs our help to survive the coming Utah winter. After losing both legs almost 20 years ago in a mountain accident, he has completely exhausted his financial resources to pay for his years of hospitalization and extensive medical treatment. His medical bills alone totaled over $8 million.  At age 63, Scott has no family left to help him and he is now homeless. Although wheelchair bound, he has been camping in a small tent in the canyons just outside Salt Lake City since April of this year.  As you can imagine, he may not survive the Utah winter camping in a tent.

Scott has applied for subsidized housing and will find out in the coming weeks if there is a unit available for him; yet, the earliest he would be allowed to move in is December 1st.  Scott needs housing now. He is not one to ask for help or to have others intervene for him, yet he realizes he may not survive the winter in the canyon.  He has allowed me to share his story and ask for help on his behalf.  Scott was my best childhood friend and by chance, a mutual friend reconnected us two weeks ago. I live in Tennessee and am trying to help from a far.

We are raising $5,000 for Scott to provide shelter until he can secure long-term housing. All funds raised will go directly to help Scott.  Specifically, the money will be used to pay for shelter and food until we can locate a more long-term solution to meet his needs.

Friends far and near, will you help me raise the funds to help get Scott into safe, warm housing before the first Utah snowfall?
