Getting to God - Ministry

Where the support will go

Here is the "We" I'm writing about; Grace, myself (Shawn Keenan) and little Jewel.

A ministry was born in 2018; strong in artistic value and delivery of God's messages, weak in financial stability. Almost every piece of Getting to God; from photography to writing, video production to web design and maintenance; it's all done by one person, me.

The icing on the cake; a documentary, also called "Getting to God" . This film is poised to open minds and hearts, to introduce and reintroduce people to God through some very moving personal stories and some very technical; almost undeniable reasoning.

The point of it all; to help light the path home for as many brothers and sisters as possible. It's a rescue mission that, right now, needs some rescue of its own.

What my family and I have put in

We've put in somewhere around $15,000 of our own money. We're serious about this ministry and film and are willing to put in a lot more when we have it, but for now it's time to reach out for help.

The gear for the film, the web hosting, the travel expenses; all of it is an out-of-pocket risk and that budget (most of it was our personal savings) is now  gone.

Expenses

- GettingToGod.com  web hosting and hosting of photography portfolio (SlyFocal.com ). Portfolio is partially used for images on GettingToGod.com (both were renewed by a small leeway in credit 2019).
- Moving my website to a more comprehensive, better run web host,
- Filing for financial and business status of the ministry, hundreds of dollars needed for that,
- My head is spinning with how to handle donations, etc. I need an accountant, at least for some consultation,
- I have 5 Christian children's books that are waiting to be published, but need ISBN numbers. That amounts to hundreds as well,
- We will have more traveling expenses for filming, etc.
- Add ons for the web presence,
- Music gear and home studio/professional studio time for production of artistic, Christian-based music,
- Lighting gear for the documentary,
- If possible, we would get a bit of childcare so I could have more time to work,
- We eventually want a home on a piece of land with a building/buildings that are set up as life-based/ Christian-based learning centers.
- Hired help to expand the ministry is in the plan as well,
- A series of other documentaries are already being planned. These will cover concepts that Christ passed on; like forgiveness, inclusiveness and Agape love.

This is serious work

I'm not just a minister, but also a full time Dad and caregiver. I wake at around 7:00 - 8:00 am every weekday, work with my child for the first 11+ hours of my day, take a small break to eat, then work on the website and documentary until somewhere between midnight and 3:00 am. I have very few breaks for things like exercise in that time. Then I get up the next day and do it all again.  I'm fine with that. I owe this to God for his forgiveness, grace and mercy. I'd do it for free if I could, but with a family to help support, I can't.

I'm a conduit, not an owner

I asking for the GoFundMe help so I can build my business; so, in turn, we can survive as a family, pay our bills and live comfortably (not excessively). But most of all I'm a conduit. What we would receive financially from that business is not ours, but God's. So, aside from our own home, clothing, etc; any funds that come from my work are to be used to uplift and educate others, to help point out the light of Christ for as many people as we can help.
