Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to read about this family with horses in need. They live on a little farm in Glenora, BC with their mother and four children aged from 1 to 13. They have a horse (Everest), a pony (Robin) and a miniature horse (Pixie) who they love dearly. Riding and caring for them has brought all of them so much joy and positive experiences.
Last week they were shocked to discover that almost all the horse tack they own, which is valued at a $4000 replacement cost, had been stolen during the night. They alerted the police and the neighbours and have tried to find any of it but with no luck. Now one might wonder, why not just go out and buy used or new? You see, every piece of equipment that they had they worked very hard for four years to aquire! Many birthday or Christmas gifts from family and school friends have been horse related or gift certificates to tack stores and the eldest daughter at 13 years old has been teaching some local girls for a few years to pay for most of all the horse related expenses. She is so hard working and determined but now with limited tack she cannot teach her students and keep up that income to buy the necessitites such as feed let alone tack. They are also passionately involved in Pony Club and are unable to participate fully with no riding saddle or bridles.
This has been a huge blow to these children and their mother, who unfortunately are unable to replace anything at this time. They are very thankful and proud for all that they have done to have these horses. They bring such fulfillment, self confidence, love and happiness at a time of importance in their lives.
Many people in the horse comminuty here have already donated some tack or funds and this has touched them all. However, the eldest is still unable to ride her horse with no proper fitting saddle, safety vest or helmet. Even fly masks and lead ropes were taken. I believe this platform is here to help people in times such as this (insurance certainly isn't!). It would bring such relief to them to know they do not have to struggle more to just get back to where they were. If you feel so inclined to help ease the blow this family has taken, I know they will be incredibly grateful and humbled.
