Getting to EMT School
Donation protected
Hi everyone!!
My name is Jaisuan Martinez and I am currently a volunteer EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) at the Plainfield Rescue Squad located in Plainfield, New Jersey. I have been a volunteer for past two months and I have fallen in love with everything within this field. I started volunteering because I am currently a Nursing student at Rutgers School of Nursing and I wanted to gain some hands on experience as well as help my community, especially in these challenging circumstances living in the Covid pandemic.
Some of you may be wondering why the Plainfield Rescue Squad isn't funding my course, like most Rescue Squads would do, so here's an explanation. The City of Plainfield looks at us as a private organization, and we are not apart of the city because Mayor Mapp has refused/refuses to support us. We are a paid/volunteer organization that only gets 15% from insurance companies to keep our doors open, and that's only on that calls that are actually BILLABLE. We also receive small donations from the community who understand the City refuses to help us. As a family, we still push to help our community and persevere through the hardships. We are #PRSSTRONG
I want to take an EMT course so I can finally become a certified EMT. The prices for these courses are quite expensive and I currently do not have the means to afford the course being a full time student. The payments are due by December 10 to make sure I have a spot in the class, but the course is in high demand so the available seats fill up fast. With that being said, the earlier I can submit my payment, the more likely I'll be able to embark on this journey of becoming an EMT.
Any donation, small or large will be greatly appreciated and very helpful!
