Getting the chop again

Donation protected
Back in 2016 when Aleesa was 8 years old she raised £1,000 by getting her waist length hair cut into a bob, to keep the Green Community Shop and Centre open. She donated the hair to The Little Princess Trust who are a charity that makes wigs for children who don't have hair, either through medical conditions or after losing their hair through cancer treatment.
"When a child loses their hair to cancer, we'll be there with a free, real hair wig to help restore their confidence and identity. You can help us give hair and hope to children and young people, by funding real hair wigs and ground-breaking childhood cancer research projects."

Now she is asking for your help again age 12!

The Green Shop is a local lifeline for so many of Oxton's residents. On one side of the space there is a shop that sells very affordable second hand clothes, books, household items, dvds and games, toys, art, toiletries and often has free food, blankets, hats and scarves for those in need. There is also a back room used for groups such as Meditation; The Reader reading groups, Sew and Grow, Knit and Natter, arts and crafts and other organisations to hold meetings.
On the other side is a community room and play area. There is a free toy and book library for children to borrow from and return on their next visit, a climbing frame, doll house and lots of toys; big comfy couches for adults to relax with a tea or coffee while the kids play, meet up with friends - or make new ones. There is also a lovely outdoor space with benches, plants, ornaments and outdoor toys and games.
They are open 9.30-5pm Monday to Friday at the moment with the intention of regular Saturdays again soon.

Unfortunately due to current restrictions our community spaces can't be open at the moment but the shop is still open for business and we desperately need customers. They are recieving a lot of fantastic donations at the moment but without customers buying them they won't be able to stay open.

The Green Community Shop is struggling to survive with the hit of Covid and we're doing everything we can to fundraise so that they can keep providing affordable items to vulnerable people and hopefully reopen fully to further support residents and local small groups and businesses in a cosy, welcoming, safe space. Watch this space for a Vintage Pop up shop coming soon selling a wide range of beautiful vintage clothes.

Aleesa has decided to get the chop again; even shorter this time, to raise vital funds. Her hair is currently half way down her back and she's getting it cropped into a pixie cut above her ears and asking you to sponsor her to raise money for a fantastic cause!

A note from Aleesa:
"I was really surprised by how much money I raised last time, I never thought I would be able to get so much. People were really kind and generous.

I know money is tight for a lot of people and families at the moment and you may not be able to donate as much, but every little helps so anything at all you can spare will mean a lot to our community and hopefully we can keep the Green Shop open.

I hope the Little Princess Trust make a lovely wig for a child without hair.

Thank you"
