Get Jasper back on all 4 feet

Hi friends and family! This is Jasper, a sweet stray whose family abandoned him and has now had a traumatic few weeks on the streets wandering our neighborhood.



He experienced some kind of trauma to his front leg, which has been injured over a week now and is unusable in its current state. We guess he's 2-3 years old. 

 This is Jasper's right leg:


It is broken at the elbow, and from his first vet consult they are recommending orthopedic surgery to fix it. Just setting it won't work because the bones are too far separated at this point. We're asking for your help in covering the surgery costs.

I've already spent:
$130 on initial consult, radiographs, and pain medication,  

and the estimated additional medical bills are:

$1,700 for the surgery
$120 for the consultation
$80 to neuter him (optimally done while he's already under for surgery)


We're not sure if we will be keeping him or fostering him until we can find his forever home, but either way we are committed to his healing, and hope this surgery can be the first step to finding him a happy healthy home. 

For every $100 dollars raised, I will pledge an hour of my time at Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO), where I recently trained as a volunteer. They are a no-kill all volunteer shelter that started post-Katrina and has been taking in and fostering animals in this region made homeless by hurricanes and other disasters since. Any funds that are not needed for his immediate medical costs will be donated to ARNO.

I'll share pictures of my volunteer log to those who donate, as well as cute pics with the pups, for accountability/ transparency (and because we all need cute pics of pups in our lives).
