My friend, Dzemila (pronounced Jamila), is fighting breast cancer. She faces a full mastectomy of her left breast August 18, 2017. She is a wonderful and kind person with a giving heart. She has already had so many struggles to fight in the past and has met each challenge head on to overcome them. Now, she is literally in the battle of her life.
Dzemila grew up in war-torn Bosnia, but 18 years ago, she and her family emigrated to the United States for an opportunity at a better life. Dzemila is the sole breadwinner and supporter of her two teenage children. Her parents also live with and rely on her for all of their needs and requirements. Dzemila works very hard as a hair stylist putting in long hours six days a week at a national salon chain without insurance coverage or disability benefits. She is facing thousands of dollars in surgical bills, hospital bills and doctors bills, as well as a lengthy recovery process when there will be no income to provide for her and her family.
