Getting Andy Home to Tobique

Donation protected
We are requesting support for our fundraising efforts to purchase a wheelchair accessible van and help with medical expenses for our Dad, Andy Nicholas.

In February 2017, on a windy winter day, Andy got stuck in the snow in his car for three days and two nights in a remote area while travelling to a wake. Through the power of prayer and the help of Ancestors, he survived this traumatic ordeal and was found by a local business man checking on his maple trees.

Since then he has undergone various surgeries for the treatment of frostbite in his legs with much strength and courage. Andy is still in hospital and now needs support with medical expenses.  He will also need the continued use of a wheelchair, an accessible van and other specialized equipment.  Most used, wheelchair accessible vans cost about $50,000.  He needs help right now for expenses while he is still in hospital and he will need a van and some equipment so that he can return home soon.

Andy is a respected Elder, father of eight children and the husband of the late Marilyn Nicholas.  Andy is from Tobique First Nation and was the first Indigenous civil engineer in New Brunswick. He was involved with many First Nation communities and organizations in several provinces across Canada and in the United States.  Through his work, many communities built new homes, infrastructure, schools, community centres and other facilities to improve community life in First Nations.

We appreciate any contribution you are able to provide.

Woliwon, thank you.
