HELP US REACH OUR £1000 TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some members of Birmingham City Council’s Employment team are running Birmingham’s Bupa half marathon this year in order to raise funds to support Santino!
Santino was just 25 years old when he suffered a brain haemorrhage on January 28th 2012.
Up until that day he was a fit and healthy young man, with a loving partner, young daughter and a son due to be born in a few months’ time.
Santino, his family and his friends have been through a very difficult time for the past two years. He suffered what is known as a left thalamic and intraventricular brain haemorrhage which was caused by an arteriovenous malformation. He was in a coma for some time and was left with only movement in his left arm, slight movement in his left leg and is unable to eat, walk or support himself sitting.
Every day since, Santino has worked hard to prove doctors wrong. He fights to improve and shows understanding and reactions to the world around him. He is now communicating by smiling, thumbs up, pointing and blinking.
His needs will require 24 hour care and the house must be fully adapted in order for Santino to return home to his family and friends.
Government funding covers less than a quarter of the cost to do this.
All money raised will be used to help fund Santino’s continued rehabilitation and also to adapt his house so he can live at home with his partner and their children.
So far James, Jack, Vincenzo, Lalit, Eve, Manpreet and Reena have signed up to do the half marathon. For those of you who know us you will know that this is a real challenge! It would mean a lot to us all if you could dig deep into those pockets and donate for such a worthy cause.
