Leland is an amazing community organizer, incredible poet and an outspoken Lyme Disease activist, advocate and battler. Leland is the most selfless, silly, deeply passionate and kind person that Seattle is so lucky to have!
This is Leland's 6th year battling Late Stage Neurological Lyme Disease. Leland spent 4 years completely bed-bound, facing paralyzation, seizures and many near death experiences.
While Leland has gained mobility and has better quality of life, Leland is still incredibly ill with a somber prognosis. Leland has exhausted all routes of healing.
Lyme Disease caused Leland to develop Mitochondrial Disease, which in this case, is fatal. Leland's Neurologist has presented a Stem Cell Transplant as being a potential chance at survival.
Unfortunately Stem Cell transplants are very rarely covered by health insurance. This means Leland is forced to pay out of pocket for the treatment so desperately needed. Costs for treatment and travel are $36k.
