In January of 2009 I was hospitalized and diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The Doctor's initial diagnosis put me in a wheelchair within 5 to 10 years. Well it has been 7 years of ups and downs but I am still moving without a wheelchair!
Recently I became more involved with taking care of myself and am trying to be more healthy. Over the last year I have lost over 110 pounds which has help me regain some more of my movement and actitivty.
My goal now is to participate in a MS Ride to raise awareness for this disease and maybe even raise some money for the search for a cure. I also want to be able to show people with MS to not give up and keep moving by whatever means you can and maybe sharing my experiences with them they can do the same.
What I need to do to meet this goal is get a recumbent trike bicycle to participate in these rides. Why a recumbent trike bicycle? A bike like this will allow me to ride assisting with my balance and fatigue problems but yet be able to meet my goal of riding and moving.
The only drawback to this type of bike is the cost. The cost of this bike is out of my budget but was hoping with the support of friends and others I would be able to purchase a bike and get on moving! Ultimately I would like to participate in one or both of these events:

This is great opportunity for me to keep moving! I know there is no way for me to return this favor other than to keep moving and trying whatever I can to bring awareness and hopefully a good example for others that MS does not have to stop you.
