Help get WeClimb Started

The mission for WeClimb is to "use rock climbing as a tool for underserved youth to become better versions of themselves along with exploring new worlds" and in order to do that we need money to apply for our 501(c)3, along with purchasing equipment for the kids involved in our program. Being a person of color in an activity that has had a strong influence on uplifting and bettering me as a person, it saddens me to see a lack of diversity in rock climbing. From the relationships that I have built to experiencing the fresh smell of nature in the morning when going on an approach to a boulder, this sport is more than an activity for me, it is a therapy session and I want to create the opportunity for everyone to be involved. Despite the fact that more people today are climbing than ever before, we still lack a proportionate amount of representation and according to "A research group at Clemson University [they] found that only 1.5 percent of USA Climbing members ... identified as African American" (Climbing.com). WeClimb will introduce kids from all backgrounds to rock climbing and the world the revolves around it, whether it be the physical aspect of doing the sport or the business side and the opportunities that can arise from that exposure. After we get our 501(c)3 we plan to launch our website to detail everything that we plan on doing in the Hamilton County area, which includes, but are not limited to, establishing programs at schools, having local workshops, taking kids to climbing competitions, and mentoring them along the way. In addition to your donation contributing to securing our 501(c)3, launching the WeClimb website, and buying climbing equipment, we will start a social venture that will sell shirts and accessories that will help fund and promote WeClimb, plus who doesn't like shirts and hats. With all of that said, thank you for your support and climb hard.
