Victor Valimaki MMA and UFC fighter and amazing friend, started the toughest battle he ever faced just over a year ago. He started losing muscle function in his legs and quickly his central nervous system started to fail him as well. He was hospitalized just over 4 months ago. He has gone through test after test, scans, spinal taps and most recently they did a biopsy on his brain. He has been diagnosed with NMO - Neuro Myelitis Optica. Neuromyelitis optica (NMO), also known as Devic's disease or Devic's syndrome, is a heterogeneous condition consisting of the inflammation and demyelination of the optic nerve (optic neuritis) and the spinal cord (myelitis).
Victor currently can not walk and his speech is slurred. His brain function (memory) is not well. The good news is that anyone who knows Victor knows he is a fighter! He is determined to beat this and walk and get back to the guy we all know. However, this is going to be a long tough battle.
He would kill me if he knew I was doing this but I see a huge need. My name is Terry and I am a close friend of Victors. This GoFundMe is to help with current expenses his mother and himself are experiencing. She is at the hospital every day. She has paid well over $100 min a week for parking the last 4 months. She buys food to eat while there for her and Victor (he can’t stand the hospital food). She can’t keep doing this alone. On top of her expenses, Victor still have his monthly bills, ambulance bills (no coverage) and just plain spending money to live without working. Very soon we will also need to equip Judis house to be able to take care of Victor when leaving the hospital. Victor would never ask for this but I AM. I will be controlling the funds and making sure his mother, Victor himself and any thing else is taken care of on his behalf.
Please donate what you can to help. Any money raise will go to buying Judi a weekly parking pass, gas cards (she drives from Beaumont every day). It will also allow us to continue buying food for him and her (he loves his tacos from Sherlock Holmes University), as well I am wanting to get him a massage 2 days a week from a professional ($200 week). He doesn’t have circulation going through his legs much at all and the therapy they do is not doing this. We will also be getting his moms home set up for his departure from the hospital. This expense will be huge.
I wish I could pay for this alone but that’s just not possible for me. So, I am asking you all for any help and to please pass this on and share. Anything helps.
