Get the Velezes the Hell out of East Palestine

Donation protected
UPDATE 3/11/23: No need to update beyond what Nate sent out this morning - we're all incredibly humbled. I (Ty) am just updating to ensure we comply with GoFundMe's rules. My name is Ty Boor, and Nate has been a persistent ass and one of my best friends since the day we met, about 13 years ago. We met in a suburb north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but Nate has hopped around quite a bit. East Palestine is a stone's throw from where we met, and I've been there numerous times. Listen, I worked in the passenger rail industry for 7 years. I recognized and made fun of some of the aging freight infrastructure that was running through East Pal...until it wasn't funny anymore. Nate doesn't trust banks, so I set this fundraiser up to funnel through me, but I'm proud to say our boy has come around on FDIC-insured banks, so the money is all going straight to Nate's family. Nate and I discussed the moon shot possibility that we meet his goal (which is roughly equivalent to the old value of his now-valueless home) the extra cash will go to the rest of the East Palestinian community to get help or get out of that hell hole. I, Ty Boor, personally do not think help is coming. Mutual aid is our best shot at surviving these terrible and frequently occurring disasters. Thank you all for helping out.

UPDATE 2/15/23: We've added Nate's Fox News interview with Jesse Watters to the links below. We're all incredibly humbled by the support we're seeing in the face of such a terrible situation. Thank you for standing with the community and good people like the Velezes. However, there's a long way to go. Nate and Nikki crunched the numbers and found that they'll have almost accrued $3,000 in Air BnB fees by the end of February alone - all while still paying the bills, including a mortgage for a house they can't go back to. It's unsustainable, and it doesn't look like help is coming from the government or the corporation that caused this. Stay outraged. Stay organized. Help the community.

You may have seen the recent news about the small town of East Palestine, Ohio. Recently, Norfolk Southern Rail Road detonated a freight train carrying hazardous chemicals, because they wanted to cut corners and keep their "precision speed railroading" schedule. They made East Palestine virtually uninhabitable and then offered to pay each resident five dollars. EDIT: As of 2/15/2023, Norfolk Southern is now offering $1000 to a select few closest to the explosion. This is a 55 BILLION dollar company.

My good friend Nate was at work when this happened. He supplied footage and interviews to most major news outlets. Links are provided below. His family works hard and had almost finished paying off the mortgage on their home when this tragic and very avoidable accident befell East Palestine. Now his small business repair shop is sitting in what's being referred to as a "Death Zone." It's not Nate's fault he can't go back to his life and livelihood. Let's get him and his family out the hell out of there.
