Here in Grand Forks, ND we have a Trolley that is reminiscent of the one that used to roam the streets in the early 1900's, that goes around town and sets up farmers markets at different locations through out the summer. This allows customers who may not be able to make it to the weekly farmers market to have access to fresh, healthy, local produce and goods. We target our locations to under served areas of low income, or elderly as well as places of greatest viability. We participate in a Well fed programs that match dollar for dollar EBT card usage, doubling the amount of produce that EBT participants can get. The Trolley also serves as the market Headquarters for the Grand Forks Town Square Farmers Markets.
THE PROBLEM IS the motor has a head gasket leak and possible cylinder damage resulting in a complete rebuild or replacement, At this time the trolley is sitting idle resulting in many who depended on the trolley for fresh local produce without an avenue to get it.
We are asking for $18,000 to get the trolley operational and resume service as soon as possible. This money will go towards a full rebuild of the motor, fixing a few other minor issues, Wipers and window seals, and making the trolley a reliable source to get the Mobile Market Moving through the streets of Grand Forks.
