WHO AM I

Hello and welcome! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Taylor Fritz and I am a junior at the University of Oregon majoring in journalism and communication with an emphasis in broadcast. I am currently one of the producers for Duck TV News and have recently accepted the Executive Producer position for Duck TV News and Sports. I am passionate about storytelling and I am naturally curious. Last year, one of my professors informed the class that being curious is what makes a great journalist. When I heard this, I knew I was in the right place.

 WHAT IS GOING ON

Earlier this year, I was accepted into the School of Journalism and Communication’s program, Media in Ghana. This program takes place during the summer and lasts six weeks. I arrive in Accra, Ghana on June 30th and come home August 11th. Media in Ghana not only gives me twelve journalism credits, which is the equivalent to three classes, but it also grants me the opportunity to intern at a Ghanaian media outlet. It’s not official, but I will most likely be interning at a television station. I should know by the end of May and will be sure to update you all.

HOW MUCH

Now, let’s talk money. The program itself is four thousand dollars. This includes the tuition for those twelve credits, housing, and some of my meals. My flight is two thousand dollars and there is also an estimated cost of an additional two thousand dollars for other expenses such as my vaccines, visa, food, and transportation while in Ghana. My goal is to raise half of the estimated cost.

WHY I NEED YOU

All that being said, I need your help! Being a full-time student, producer of Duck TV News, and working part time as an ambassador for the School of Journalism and Communication I do not have the financial resources to pay for this. While I have been applying for many scholarships, any other financial help would be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

I am very grateful for this opportunity and I don’t want financial disadvantages to be an obstacle. I truly believe anything helps and I appreciate each one of you who took the time to read this. I think this experience will benefit me both academically and professionally and it would mean the world to me if I could gain some financial support. I look forward to not only growing as a journalist while in Ghana, but as an individual too. I hope you consider donating or sharing.
Thank you!
