Get Steppin' Walk for the Homeless 2022

Steppingstone's Get Steppin' Walk for the Homeless began supporting operations of the Agency's First Step Inn emergency homeless shelter in 2004.

The Get Steppin’ Walk for the Homeless has always been a vital source of support for the First Step Inn, but this event has become even more critical to the ongoing operations of the shelter after its recent 2017 expansion during which it relocated and expanded from 20 beds to 50 beds for the homeless. The First Step Inn helps about 300 homeless individuals each year. It offers homeless guests a comprehensive system-of-care including intensive case management, housing placement assistance, behavioral health treatment and primary care and other services such as educational programming.  Daily meals are served in the large dining hall and there is a commercial kitchen on-site. The facility contains a large laundry room, common areas, bathrooms and showers and bunk rooms for both men and women.

Despite expanding from 20 to 50 beds, this program continues to operate with the same amount of state funding. To continue to operate we must rely on the generosity of our corporate partners and individual donors in the community to support operations of the First Step Inn through its annual Get Steppin’ Walk for the Homeless.
