Get Sandy out of Kuwait for Christmas

Donation protected

As most of you know, I rescued a young male dog from a beach in Kuwait. He was abandoned, starving, lame and being abused and would have eventually died had I not brought him home. After taking him for a checkup at the vet, I found out that he’s only about a year old but was in ok health other than he was malnourished. He also had a fractured front leg that didn’t heal properly so he
walks with a limp. I suspect he was hit by a car or with a stick by someone. He’s terrified of cars so it’s really
difficult
to walk him here as it’s very busy with speeding cars, no
real parks to walk him in.

In the short time that I’ve had him he’s learned so much so fast. He was potty trained within a couple days which is amazing for a street dog. He has learned many
commands; sit, stay, get you’re toy, no, come, in your
house (kennel), paw; drop it and more. He’s learned to
walk on a leash as well. He’s also had all of his shots,
been microchipped and hasbeen neutered. Kuwait is
not a cheap country to live in, cost is 4x what it would be in Canada, so he’s been a pretty expensive foster dog so far. Food, toys, treats, crate, and medical has been
unbelievably costly! No such thing as Amazon here and no mail service.

Unfortunately Kuwait is a horrible country for strays,
with many dogs and cats just abandoned. Strays,
especially dogs, are not treated well at all as they are
considered “filthy” and are very feared. The weather is
terribly harsh for them as well with temperatures
soaring to 57° in the summer and no access to fresh
water. It’s awful. There are a couple of rescue
organizations that exist here but they are so
overwhelmed with animals and very little funding
assistance that they cannot accept any more animals
and rarely answer calls for help. I’ve tried so many times to reach out to them but no luck. I’ve also reached out
to many others in the US and Canada but the story is
mostly the same. I’ve exhausted all of the leads that
have been given me. My only option is to get him out of here on my own. Thankfully, with the help of my
wonderful friends and social media, I’ve found him a
new home on a farm near Toronto. My only problem is
getting him there. I’ve been trying to find him a
volunteer escort to fly with him so he can travel as
“excess baggage” but haven’t found anyone yet. The only other option in flying him “cargo” but that cost is in
excess of $2500! So this brings me to this fundraiser. I’m hoping that I can raise some money to get him to his
new home. He deserves a better life where he can run
free and make new animal friends. (He’s never seen another animal other than dogs or stray (feral) cats! So
sad. I really hate asking for assistance but I’m desperate to get him out of here before it’s toocold to fly him to
Canada! If are able to donate great, thank you but no
obligation, I know everyone is struggling right now and
it’s close to the holidays.

This is my Christmas Wish for Sandy!

Sincerely,

Irene ,
