Support Ron Hellstern

As some of you know, but maybe many of you don’t, Ron was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in June of 2018. The doctors he spoke with told him to travel as much as he could and gave him about 2 years. He had good success with different treatments throughout the last year and was able to do the things he wanted with very little side effects. He had a chemo treatment on November 25, 2019 and he left for a cruise to South America on December 1, 2019. By December 2 he had a fever, chills and started to have severe leg pain that made it near impossible for him to walk. That quickly progressed to jaundice, nausea, and more symptoms. The doctors on the ship told him he needed to be sent back to the U.S at the next port. He was taken straight from the plane at the Miami airport into an ambulance to Miami University Hospital where he stayed in the ICU for over a week. He was flown via Air Ambulance to Salt Lake where he was transferred to McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden where he has been since December 15. The probability that he will recover to resemble his old self is quite low. Although much of his care has and will be covered through insurance, many other costs have presented themselves. The largest of these expenses was the private flight from Miami which required an upfront payment of $40,000. There have been other costs like lodging both in Miami and now in Ogden for Wendy to stay with him. As we don’t know how long this will continue, or how much the final bills will be, we as a family wanted to ask for any and all who are willing to help Wendy during this time. If you can’t donate, we ask that you share his story in hopes that Wendy isn’t faced with major medical bills when this is all over. Anything will help Ron and Wendy during this time. Thank you
