He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, where surgeons worked tirelessly through the night to save it—reconnecting arteries and repairing shattered bones. Thanks to their incredible skill, and the calm, quick action of his girlfriend Peyton, Riley still has both of his legs today.

<div>The relief of that miracle quickly gave way to reality: this is just the beginning of a long, painful journey. Riley has already endured multiple surgeries and faces many more, including a full knee rebuild. Ahead lies months of grueling recovery and physical therapy. Right now, he is immobile and in constant pain. Peyton, his rock and full-time caregiver, has been by his side every step, setting aside her own work and needs to care for him with unwavering love.
