Parker and Nick could use your support

The last 2 years have been scary for Parker Buehler. She had been suffering from seizures that later were diagnosed as symptoms of a growing Glioblastoma that needed surgical intervention. A little over 18 months after her first surgery, the seizures returned -- signs that the tumor, or a new one was back. Another surgery, add radiation and chemo to the treatment plan and she is armed to keep fighting the battle.

A few weeks ago, Parker completed her last radiation treatment and was looking forward to getting away with her husband Nick on a cruise to see their favorite band 311 together with 3,500 friends, the 311 Familia. While on the cruise on Saturday, Parker suffered several more seizures and had to seek medical attention in Belize. It was this incident that is prompting our call to help Parker and Nick. To this point, they have never asked for our help. And they still have yet to ask for help which is why we are asking on their behalf. 

The hospital in Belize did not take any insurance and they had to give credit cards to seek medical care. Additionally, the only way Parker could be safely transported to a hospital in the US was via a medical flight which costs over $30,000. Add this to the escalating medical bills they were already facing, and this could bury them financially.

Nick is a teacher and coach at Mt. Vernon Middle School and Parker is unable to work due to her medical condition. Nick recently used his last days of PTO and will forfeit pay as he stays home to take care of Parker for the remainder of the school year. He also has to pay the full cost of his insurance during this non-paid time off, adding to the stresses of the situation.
