Get Luanah (& her violin) "Bach" 2 top UK Uni

Dear all music and arts lovers,

I started playing the violin I was 3 - I told my mum that "I wanted to play the baby with the stick" (in my mind, the Mum was the cello, and Dad the Bass).

I worked my strings off since then, rocked in a peculiar life boat partly in South Africa, and in France, to eventually reach my goal. I am now 21 years old. Meet and follow me me on my Instagram account : insta : its got pics and videos, and glimpses of my life in Birmingham.

I prepared for the audition and got admitted into a world class music college, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (UK), with a partial scholarship (50 % of yearly £9250 tuition fees).

I was so thrilled to start the first year of Bachelor of Music last September, with my Gran'ma financial support.  Birmingham is a lively and artistically vibrant town and I felt home.
Unfortunately my Gran got suddenly very sick and announced  late December she would not be supporting me anymore ;  I had to stop my studies abruptly at the beginning of the second semester in Jan.

Thanks to the support of the Head of Strings, Louise Landsdown and my teacher, Nathaniel Valois,  I was offered to turn this unfortunate event into a sabbatical year. Both of them and my teachers expect me to return next Jan.

My mum (single parent) can't afford to finance : she now works part time in a supermarket, as her health has been fluctuant, after a severe burn out after many years as a management consultant. She'll eventually get back on track, but it will take some time.

Upon my return she suggested I come along and start working with her, just before the Covid crisis hit. We both have been working hard throughout these crazy and ominous times  and I've leaned more than I expected about marketing and managing styles in this environment! 48683280_1593091592319239_r.jpeg

(My mum and I have started a blog about it) . But the salary level - less than minimum wage - does not allow me to save any money, nor ask for a loan.

Nonetheless, I practice every day, and can't wait to go back to my studies and prepare for my future.

I was just awarded a Rotary "Governor's prize " of the Lyon District recognizing exceptional promising young people with a peculiar life.

Hence, with this Crowdfunding, I am soliciting all music and arts lovers and youth supporters to contribute to my financing a year of studies.

Contribution structure :

The cost of living in the university accomodation and the yearly tuition amounts to a yearly  £10 000.  The costs of living are itemized here : planning-your-finances/living-costs
