Laurie Comerford's daughter, as you likely know, qualified for Team USA as a National Champion in the 100 free. She also has qualified to swim the 200 free relay. This means she will swim several events in Budapest.
She has been a constant presence and support for Mallory and has made many sacrifices over the years. While she cannot be at every meet where Mallory competes, it just doesn't feel right that she wouldn't be with her daughter at her first World Championship Meet.
Laurie is very humble. She has said, "I will wait for Tokyo." Well, we are all waiting for Tokyo; but we all also know that anything can happen. Life can happen. She should not wait.
