Help Return Katherine to her Family

Donation protected
May you knew her, maybe you didn't.  That is besides the point.

It pains so terribly to write of my mother in the past tense.

Katherine loved to travel.  She would always say, "My heart is free", and she knew, in her heart, that it wouldn't be much longer before she passed.  As she would talk about this in our conversations over Facetime, I would deny and weep silently after.  I didn't want her to see me weak, but I wish I could have comforted her during this time.  She was extremely loved.  Despite her pain, she  pushed through and started on her travels over the world.  In her last year she traveled in Europe and nestled in Turkey.  My mother always smiled bright and touched the lives around her with joy and strength.

She longed to be by the beach, where she could relax and finally unwind after a long journey through life.

Too young, only 53, she was taken to where I believe she wanted to be, Heaven.

My mother, Katherine Blann, passed away in her apartment in Turkey after fighting a long battle with her health. Deterioration started after she was hit and run by a Jeep in 2015.  Years my mother fought to regain the ability to walk, and fought through the PTSD and pain medication she was prescribed.  She fought to regain her life, and she wanted to do what she loved most, teach English.  She tried so hard to regain her strength but despite her valiant effort...

Her liver cancer and autoimmune disease encompassed her as she was too brittle and weak to put up a winning fight.
But believe me, Katherine never stopped fighting for her life.

As she never stopped fighting for anyone or anything that she believed in.

My mother’s wishes were to be cremated and spread into the ocean.

Getting my mother’s body home will be a huge expense for my family as well as a relief to make sure we get to take care of our mother.

Turkish law prohibits cremation, and so we are having to work around this.  This is not our only road block in the journey to returning my mother to US soil.  This process is extremely long and very hard and the expenses will equal up to if not more than, 10K.

Please help us make sure we can get her home safe and sound where she belongs, with family and loved ones.

Anything helps.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my lovely mother.

Rest in Peace, Katherine Blann.
