My name is Jessica Hackett and I am a young lyric soprano from Kildare in Ireland. I have been so fortunate to have gained a place on the MA in Advanced Opera Performance course with the David Seligman Opera School at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama!!!
Having had a wealth of success during my time with the Northern Ireland Opera Studio, I am very excited to begin the next chapter of my career with some of the worlds most prestigious coaches and vocal teachers, such as John Fisher (Assistant Manager of the Metropolitan Opera) in the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Out of 300 singers that auditioned, I was fortunate enough to gain 1 of 8 places on the course and cannot wait to begin!
The fees are £19,990 per annum over the course of the two year Masters, which is why I need your help. Despite receiving a partial scholarship, living costs and accommodation rates have increased significantly which is why I will need your help in order to become the best I can be.
The course involves...
- One-to-one singing lessons and repertoire coaching
Individual tuition with eminent professional singers and leading coaches
- Specialist tuition in Italian, French and German
- Fully integrated classes in stagecraft including movement and dance
- Tuition in dramatic and interpretative skills
- Classes focusing on professional etiquette and opera protocol, developing an awareness of collaborative working practices
- Professional operatic working practices with professional directors and repetiteurs
- Public performance in a fully staged opera
- Opera scenes presentations including baroque and contemporary works as well as standard repertoire
- Opportunities to observe and shadow Welsh National Opera, concert party events, Welsh National Opera Max projects and selected studio rehearsals
- Welsh National Opera chorus
- Intensive training in audition technique
- Detailed study and preparation of a complete operatic role for presentation at a professionally equivalent audition and working session. This usually assessed by a Head of Music from one of the main UK opera companies
