Get Jamie Through her Transplant

My name is Shay and I’m starting this fundraiser to help my “work daughter” feel financially stable until she can get back to work.

Jamie is 29 years old and suffering end stage renal failure caused by Lupus. At her incredibly young age, she is on the transplant list for the second time. She received her first donor kidney in 2020, and at the end of 2022, her Lupus attacked her thyroid causing her donated kidney to fail as well. She has been hooked up to machines daily since then to keep her body going until she is healthy enough to get her new kidney.

Jamie is a certified pharmacy technician, and I have worked closely with her for about a year and a half. She is an incredibly hard worker with a work ethic that makes her stand out in any kind of work place environment. She has been unable to work since May. She would still be working if she could, and every time she talks about going back to work, she suffers another health crisis and is unable.

She has insurance that pays for her medical needs and procedures, and is currently waiting on her temporary disability claims to kick in. In the meantime, she has gone through the money she had saved to take her son to Disney World, making her monthly car payment, her insurance payment, phone bill, and keeping them fed.

When Jamie is cleared for her kidney transplant, she will have to spend an entire month in San Antonio so that she can be evaluated and treated by her specialists there. This is also an expense she will need help with.

Jamie has lived her adult life making the best out of every situation she has been handed. I see her smiling and caring for others daily while she is continually suffering with a disease with no cure, and rarely any comfort. I know she’s tired, but she keeps going for her 7 year old son. I want to make this time in her life as easy and comfortable as possible, and would be eternally grateful for any help.
