This January, our family went through a life-changing health scare with Jai. After the holidays, he had a pain on the side of his stomach that soon became unbearable, sending us to the hospital. My husband’s appendix ruptured, puncturing his intestines, causing his body to become septic. Jai underwent six surgeries, and he now has an ileostomy on the right side of his stomach. Each surgery was scarier than the last for our family, and he remained in critical condition, in a medically induced coma for weeks. There were days that I could only pray that God would restore Jai’s body, and he would make it out of the hospital. I never imagined the pain you feel, seeing the person you love most in the world on life support, fighting for his life, day in and day out.
During the months that Jai was hospitalized, I was laid off of my job because I could not leave his side. Every day, Jai gets better, but we have a long, hard road ahead of us, and our calendar is full of rehab and doctors’ appointments every week. The appointments, prescription changes, diet adjustments, and bills seem never-ending at this point.
We are now traveling out-of-town to see specialists, praying that they have the answers and can help fully heal his body. While we are so thankful that Jai is alive, this process has become very overwhelming and put a financial strain on our family and in our home. At this time, we are living on one income, as I continue to take Jai to appointments, focus on his health/nutrition, and try to find specialists throughout Texas that will help us find answers and get him well.
Our family is so grateful for the support each of you have given us through the most trying time of our lives. Your prayers got us through the worst of days. As people have continued to ask how they can help, and our closest friends have seen our financial struggle, I have been encouraged to start this campaign. There is NOTHING that means more to us than your prayers, and we are eternally grateful for you sharing this campaign or donating.
