I am so excited to share with y'all a part of my heart for the past 2 years.

Out of my deepest hurt and sorrow came my deepest passion.

A passion to see hope and redemption in the area of sexual brokenness- specifically in porn addiction.

I saw from a firsthand experience the harmful effects of pornography on someone I loved. I saw how it absolutely tore them apart mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I saw how porn perpetuated this vicious cycle of shame that kept them enslaved to something they wanted so bad to hate - but only felt empty and numb.

I saw how porn had destroyed how they viewed women, men, and themselves.

I saw porn destroy my relationship.

I was so shocked at how such a pervasive issue was kept so quiet. I was shocked to see the statistics of how many people look at porn and at such an early age (A study done in 2008 found that 93% of boys and 62% of girls had been exposed to pornography in their early adolescent years. Studies have shown that the average age of a child’s first exposure to porn is around 11 years old).

I met person after person after person (male and female) who has struggled with this addiction for years. But yet...I found no one who was bold enough to speak out on this issue for who all those who were kept quiet by the shame, passivity, and desensitization...

Until I came across Fight the New Drug (https://fightthenewdrug.org/about/).

Fight the New Drug is a non-religious and non-legislative nonprofit organization that raises awareness of the harmful effects of pornography on people and society using facts, science, and personal accounts.

It has been a dream of mine since last year to get them to come to my school, Clemson University, to give their live presentations on the truth about porn. The presentation will take place in Tillman Hall, the same place where in my Human Sexual Behavior class my professor showed the class porn. Talk about redemption! Having Fight the New Drug come and drag this quiet, dark issue into the light would be an opportunity like no other.

This is such a need on a college campus and people need to know the truth about porn. College students need to be educated on how pornography destroys the brain, relationships, and society. They need to be educated on the porn industry's link to sex trafficking. They need to be made aware that pornography fuels exploitation of women, men, and children.

In our hyper-sexualized and pornified culture, this is important now more than ever. This twisted distortion of sexuality is toxic. It desensitizes us to sexual abuse. It teaches us objectification of people - nothing more than objects to exploit and then dispose of. It tells us to lust after whoever we want whenever we want. It disconnects us from reality, ethics, damages and rewires the brain, ruins relationships, and supports the trafficking of women and children. But most of all....

It changes how we love and connect to people.

I am raising 4,200 dollars in order to get Fight the New Drug to come and give their presentation to college students at Clemson and around the area in the Spring. If we are to stand up to sexual exploitation and the lies of the porn industry, we need to be educated. This will be the essential step to changing the conversation, and transforming people's lives.

There is hope for porn addiction. There is a healthier way of living. There is an abundance of life and freedom to be had out of this sexual darkness.

Would you join me in being bold, fighting for love, and fighting the new drug?
