Meet Evan- a role model, an unparalleled guitarist, a passionate advocate for health policy, and a trusted friend to many of us at the College of Medicine. Last week I had the privilege of attending an AMA conference in San Diego, spearheaded by Evan himself. While enjoying our last day hiking, Evan lost his footing on a steep trail and took a 40 foot tumble off the side of a cliff face, sustaining several critical injuries. After several long and painful days of stabilization, surgery and support, Evan has miraculously been healing beyond all expectations. While tackling serious adversity head on, he is expected to make a full recovery. During his initial recovery I witnessed nothing but extreme gratitude, positivity and humor from Evan despite his crushing pain, which is a testament to his character. 

The purpose of sharing his story is to show Evan and his family our support. Our goal is to raise $1000 in attempt to assist, may it be in a small way, with the tremendously burdening medical costs. Regardless your support, be it in prayer, positive energy, or donation is incredibly appreciate. 

Evan, you have so much support from your FIU family and all the lives you’ve touched. We are all here and excited to help in any way we can in your road to recovery. We have nothing but love for you and can’t wait to have you back in Miami!
