Emanuel Rios is a bright, energetic 9 year-old boy and his brother Carter McKale, is a happy, bright-eyed 5 year-old with residual brain damage. As many are aware, my nephews were taken into foster care in October 2017 due to neglect and substance abuse issues via their mother. At that time, their grandparent's Jeff and Virginia McKale were willing to take the children, but because they lived across state lines (New Jersey), DHS refused to allow it, despite all clearances being acquired.
Since October, Carter has been living in a medical institution and Emanuel has been placed into 5 different foster homes. At one of these foster homes, Emanuel became victim to sexual abuse. Judge Lyris F. Younge ruled Jeff and Virginia "unfit" without ever allowing them to speak their piece or show the overwhelming amount of evidence that proves they are best fit to care for the children. If you have taken the time to read the above article, it is clear that Judge Younge has irrational judgement and is unfit to serve in the courtroom. Regardless of this article, this said judge is actively destroying families and children's lives everyday. Our only chance at getting the boys where they belong (with the grandparents) is to appeal the judges decision and hire another lawyer to represent our family on May 8, 2018.
The boy's mother has been in contact with DHS and is working on her road to recovery. We are fighting to have the boys reside with Jeff and Virginia (the mother's parents) and over-turn the judge's unfair, unjust ruling. Jeff is a hard-working, honest man and his wife Virginia is a certified medical assistant fully capable of caring for Carter's medical needs. Both have all required federal and state clearances and are able to provide a stable loving home. There is a bedroom ready and made-up waiting for Little E and Carter. No foster home or institution will be able to provide the unconditional love these boys need.
After hours of research and digging we were able to find a lawyer who is familiar with this said judge and her tendencies. Jeff and Virginia are at a financial hardship due to the previous lawyer fees and Virginia taking an absence from work to be readily available for their grandchildren. Please help us to fight for the boys to come home before this judge allows for Emanuel to be adopted out and Carter to live in an institution (this is what DHS is pushing towards).
