Get Alannah to Dean's List Ceremony

I'm proud to announce that in my last year of school I made the Memorial University Dean's List!! This was a huge accomplishment for me and I'm very happy that I can officially call myself a nerd! There is a Dean's List Ceremony that takes place on October 26th in St. John's, Newfoundland and although I have some funds saved- having been a broke student for so long, I would genuinely appreciate any help geared toward getting me home to celebrate.
In the fourth grade, my teacher Madame Coderre actually told me that I should not be allowed to progress to Grade 5 and that I would probably never graduate high school. I was never considered a bright student by my classmates or my teachers. Instead I was pushed to the back of the class and as a result, hated school.
It was not this negative feedback that pushed me to do better and see my potential, instead, it was the positive people- and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers who helped encourage me along the way. In elementary school, Line Pelletier - although not formally my teacher - saw my potential and made me feel so smart, welcome, unique and amazing. THANK YOU! My grade 2 teacher, Shelley Addis (spelling?) was the best teacher I could have had - she made me feel just as smart and loved and gave me the feeling of "teacher's pet" .THANK YOU! ! And in high school, Chris McNeill (RIP you amazing man! You're so missed) took the time to learn my interests, recommend books to me, and always asked what I was up to after I graduated.
This ceremony is more than a photo opportunity or vacation for me- it's the chance to celebrate an academic accomplishment that might not have seemed remotely possible to the discouraged young girl who hated elementary school. Alsoooo, my birthday is on the 18th so this would be a great birthday gift!
