Hello friends and family. September 16th, 2017 my younger brother Adam Griffith was in a bad traffic accident.
He fractured both femurs. Distal one side, upper femur and shattered ball joint on the other side hip, dislocated one knee (right) and split patella on the other (Left), and fractured his right tibia. compound fracture in right forearm, and 6 fractures in right wrist. He has already undergone one very extensive surgery resulting in a lot of internal and external hardware, and will undergo a second surgery later this week.
We are learning more about what the future looks like for Adam, and we are learning the reality of the related expenses. It is going to be difficult and long, but the reality is that our resources are tight. Therefore we are setting up a GoFundMe for Adam, so that maybe we can do better for him than just surviving. This is a difficult leap for us to make, but under the circumstances we're doing what we have to. I know this isn't something everyone can do, but many of you have expressed an interest in helping, or frustration at not being able to; this may be the best way you can help him.
Some of the things we are trying to cover are his rent so he has a home to return to when he's on his feet again, accumulating massive medical bills, medical equipment rental for when he is released, medical transport expenses, physical rehab, some new easy to use clothing, and tons of other things that are quickly piling up. Adam did not have health insurance when this occured. All medication will be out of pocket. We are working with the hospital social worker for some of these things, but we're just out of luck for others. His injuries are a "game changer" as his doctor said, and he'll be dealing with a physical and emotional battle for many months to come, but we'll need to start covering many of these expenses in the next few days. Any help is appreciated! We will try to keep everyone updated as things progress.
