Hello Everyone,
We recently discovered that my Dad Gerry has a very serious and rare brain tumor. After two years of other medical problems related to a shoulder injury and thyroid issues, Dad was still experiencing headaches, fatigue and dizziness. His primary care doctor recommended a CT, which lead to an MRI, which then lead us to a specialist who gave us the diagnosis that he has a large Chordoma. There are only 300 cases of this kind of tumor recorded per year worldwide. We've told Dad we always knew he was one in a million! If only it weren't for this reason. Obviously, we are all scared and upset by this news and are praying for him.
Dad will be undergoing surgery next week to remove the tumor which will then be followed by radiation. He will be in the hospital for about a week and we hope to all be home before Christmas.
Since the diagnosis, I have been in California arranging appointments and providing support for my Mom and Dad. They live 300 miles from where the surgery will take place and transportation, housing, medical bills, and time off work for my Dad are all adding up.
It was not easy for the three of us to decide we needed to reach out to our friends and family. We all wish there was another way. Sometimes life gives you experiences that you cannot handle on your own and this is one of those times. So, we are here to ask for your help. Anything you can give would be so incredibly appreciated.
Your support means the world to us. Gerry is not one to sulk and is staying positive. Mom and I are doing our best to keep up with his amazing attitude! Thank you for your prayers for my Dad!
