Geri Crooke Trust

In honour of my friend Geri Crooke who was taken from us this year, I have decided to run the Bedford Half Marathon on the 1st of December 2019. Geri had a passion for the arts and was just as passionate about young people experiencing them. The money will help support disadvantaged children to access theatre and live performances.

Information about Geri Crooke:
Geri has always had a passion for performance. She did youth theatre at the Key in Peterborough and then went onto do performing arts at Peterborough Regional College and a degree in performing arts at Carlisle University. Geri joined 20Twenty Productions as a volunteer youth theatre director in 2012 and was taken on full time in 2013 as she was such a valuable member of the team. Geri was the Academy Manager and looked after hundreds of children and young people over the last 6 years. Geri ran theatre projects in schools, she worked with children to achieve LAMDA exams with a 100% pass rate. Her real passion was the Connections Theatre Festival and she directed 5 amazing shows loving every minute. Geri filled every room with her awesome smile and nothing was too much trouble for her. On 17th June 2019 Geri died in a car accident on her way to the job she loved. The entire 2020 community were devastated as were many many other friends and of course her family. To honour Geri a trust is being set up in her name. Funds raised for the trust will be available to disadvantaged children to access live performance and fund LAMDA exams. Regular fundraising events will be held to build funds in the trust and the trust will be open to applications from January 2020.
