Hi, my name is Maria Stritzel together with my friend Bella Casuga, we are writing this heartfelt request with the hope that you will join us in supporting a remarkable individual. Gerarda (Naida) embarked on a journey to Australia from the Phillipines before the COVID-19 pandemic, driven by her selfless desire to care for her sister, Caecilia O’Reilly, who had undergone knee surgery for the fifth time. When the pandemic struck, closing borders worldwide, Naida’s stay in Australia became a prolonged one.

In a devastating turn of events, she fell ill and was hospitalized in early January 2025, revealing a heartbreaking diagnosis of late-stage cancer. Unfortunately, she lacked insurance, leaving her with exorbitant hospitalization costs. Despite being hospitalized three times since early January, Naida’s spirit remains unbroken. This morning around 6.45am she passed away in peace at Toowoomba Hospital from cancer.

Undeterred, we launch this GoFundMe campaign, humbly to cover the costs of funeral expenses and for transporting her ashes to bring back to her loved ones in the Philippines.
