As many of you have heard St Maartin has been devistated by Hurricane IRMA. Well very sad to say our very close friend we have all come to love GERALDINE VIERA has suffered significant damage to her house and the place she works the Divi Little Bay Hotel in St Maartin .
I have been in contact with Gerardine several times since the storm and my heart breaks to hear the hardship our friend is going through. Gerarldine lost part of her roof and recieved severe damage to the back side of her home. Her home is currently without running water or electricity . She stayed in her home through the terrible storm to try and save her belongings. Geraldine lives alone and therefore only relies on herself to provide.
We all know Geraldine as a very special loving person that will give the shirt off her back to help the next person, never expecting anything in return. Times are very tough for her at moment having a small income from the hotel and no other support coming in. She needs our help. As we all know , Geraldine would never ask anyone for help. I am reaching out to everyone that has known Geraldine over they years to offer some assistance. The assistance will be used to help her get her home repaired so she no longer has to sleep on a mattress in her living room to avoid getting wet when it rains.
It's going to take Geraldine several month to get her home repaired so electricity can be restored. With the condition her home is in now the city will not restore her electricity. Until Geraldines home is a safe enviroment the current will not be restored. Supplies or limited and expensive so I am asking everyone to spare a little extra this month and give to a very special person that we all have come to care about and love, I know all help will be appreciated.
Its times like this we have to be thankful for what we have and help someone who's life has been turned upside down by circumstances they can not control . I try and call her when I can to lift her spirits, but its very hard to stay positive when Gerarldine is on the other end of the call sad and upset wondering how she is going to start her life all over. Every little donation will help her get to a better place in the days to come. Thanks you for reading this story.
